Guinness Surger in Malaysia

If you’re a big Guinness Stout like I am (beer’s for pussies!), then I’m sure you have came across the Guinness Surger. If you haven’t, then you’re missing a lot!

Guinness Surger

What’s a Guinness Surger you ask? Well, see the photo above, the thingamajig next to the draft unit? That’s a surger. What is does is that is uses ultrasonic waves to stimulate the molecules of your pint of stout so you Guinness is transformed into a gold.

How does it work? Well, while the “home” units is not readily available, unlike in the UK. I watched what the bartender did.

Guinness Surger Pack

The stout that he used was from the Guinness surger cans, the half a pint is filled up to the brim. Then he pours water onto the tray at the top of the Surger unit, and places the half-pint onto the tray. All he does then is to hit the button and waits for a couple of minutes. I tell you, when you chug the stout down your throat, you start to believe that you’re at St James’ Gate, at the edge of heaven.

The half-pint of Guinness Draught turns from brown to black topped with a tight creamy white head. At the touch of a button, the Surger sends an ultra-sonic pulse through the pint glass, releasing the gases in the Guinness beer, which then settles into a velvety pint with creamy head. Yummy!

Go forth and seek the Surger in Malaysia! Hopefully we’d be able to buy the home units like the folks in UK enjoy. Trust me, it’s better than a regular Guinness Stout draught – it’s really really really smooooth.
