How Do You Know if a Chicken is Malay?

[ad]
Do you like your chicken Malay and salted? I laughed out loud when I saw this sign at a local Chinese restaurant in Subang Jaya. A plethora of thoughts fowled my mind. I heard of Kampung chicken but Malay chicken? I smell something fishy poultry.

I guess maybe they wanted to be more specific as not all kampung chickens are Malays. Maybe, it has been exposed to the customs and culture of the Malay society. The chicken is put through rigorous tests like mastering the dangdut (Dangdut Chicken – now that’s a sell!) or just sleeping on the job (an ode to our Prime Minister). It might even be taught pantuns at its early age and then have its featherbrained wit tested with sepak takraw.

Here’s another food for thought, what happens if you remove the word “chicken” from that dish?

Imagine the waiter asking you, “Do you want the 1/4 Salted Malay or 1 Whole Malay Sir?. Please remember that additional portions to be charged extra.” How fowl.
