Tattoos – A Sign of Rebellion
Tattooes are now depicted as high fashion amongst the youngsters today. Hair was once the signature being a rebel in the face of social consternation but not anymore, though I have to say some Chinese women try really hard to make change their hairstyle to shitlocks.
The weirder you look, the more rebelious you are portrayed by society. Just look at the Oriental countries where you just can’t differentiate the women and men, where both sex have the same amount of facial hair.

Now that hair fashion is stagnant, thanks to the bald-look which I too have been a proud convert since December 2005, tattoos are making in-roads to become the latest rebellious statement.
Body piercing too have lost to tattoos. Ear piercing is now considered something conservative. I still have wear a earring on my left ear and it’s now coming to 13 years since I embraced ear piercing. Companies like Google is starting to embrace body art (tattoos and piercing). My previous and current companies both allow me to use my ear piercing.
Hmm, I wonder what lies ahead for tattoos? How about some flesh advertising – get paid by the hour to walk around with an advertisment tattoo on your forehead? I won’t be surprised.
The only time I will embrace tattoos is that when there is the technology to make it disappear after a year. If someone can come up with that, I bet there’ll be a HUGE market for it and you’re own your way to become a billionaire.

you got to see what tattoo it is? because in my tribe, tattoo has meanings and it goes way back to our forefathers. it also resemble the culture of my peoples….
so u cant say it is a sign of rebellion….
A good sharing. I have a earring too…for 5 years I guess. Tattoo is indeed fast becoming a trend. I’m thinking of getting one too.
What about tattoos on the calf and thighs… Or ribcage… What classification?
Tattoos hold much meaning to its owner. A story, a reason, an experience or just plain folly. There are many reasons why ppl do tattoos also. Its a personal choice.
i just have tattoos for the heck of it…
nice post! and yeah, i wish there’s a semi permanent tattoo out there
I wonder how acceptable is “socially-acceptable” in Malaysia? It’s quite subjective oh
Seth – And what is the reason that your forefathers got the tattoo? Something must’ve triggered it…rebellion?
tekkaus – I can never get a tattoo, because I can’t never make up my mind on the design. Now I’ve no interest whatsoever.
Pinknpurplelizard – No idea. Yup, tattoo’s a personal choice, but psychologically, it’s a sign of rebellion.
ALTing – Don’t lie, you guerilla you!
Amanda – Yeah, semi-permanent would be awesome!
JL – Yeah, in Malaysia, generally, the people are backward-thinking, but not the ones living in the city.
