The Fear of Aging
Yes, we are aging. The moment we’re born, we get old. Thinking too much about something which you have ZERO control only elevates hypochondria. I know many fear death, and I do too. But, the fear of death shouldn’t stop us from living our lives.
Aging is just an inescapable process. And death is inevitable, it’s part of life, a fact of reality which we can never elude. But, it’s not worth thinking about it nor losing sleep over it in your lifetime. Please start living while you’re alive. And sleep when you’re dead.

it really is about what your journey in life is all about…if you’re aiming for a life of monotony, skimp and save on everything, and not experiencing anything, you’re WORKING towards a great death. otherwise, if you’re living your life to the fullest, means taking chances and experiencing life, you’re workings towards making a great life. make your life a book, a page-turner with great chapters to look forward to.
There’s this bloke in the mini series Band of Bros. His name’s Spears, I think. He had this line to the effect that for a soldier to be really good, he has to consider himself dead already. For then, he would have dealt with his greatest fear and would then be able to move on and do his job. Maybe it is like that. Instead of fearing death, confront it head on and say, so what… a bit biblical, if you know what I mean.
Listen to Pink Floyd’s song “Time” from The Dark Side of the Moon album. Absolutely resonates with what you’re saying here.
As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You’ve always shared my darkest hours
I’ll miss you when I go
And oh, when I’m old and wise
Heavy words that tossed and blew me
Like autumn winds that will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine
As the final curtain falls before my eyes
Oh when I’m Old and wise

Ian Teh Excellent stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Keropok Thanks, I will. BTW, do you know anyone in the media industry who’d be able to look for sponsors to bring in international musicians for concerts?

grow old, but young at heart… that’s all that matters
well aging? the only thing that frightens me about it is, i hope wont be all by myself and alone, but aside from that i dont give a care about it… death actually is a welcomed blessing
One will grow old, but one don’t have to don’t grow up.
clement As long as one grows up, the rest will fall into place.
Lucifer If you look at it that way, then perhaps yes, we are all afraid of spending the rest of our twilight years alone. Good thought to ponder…
