A Songwriting Process : Drafting Lyrics
Now, this is the fun part, joining your random thoughts together. Of course, first, you need to ensure it’s not choppy when you put them together. Songs are about storytelling, not mish mash of nonsensical words. You could do that if you want, but you’ll end up sounding like Kurt Cobain i.e. utter nonsense.
Though the melody’s not in your head yet, just draft the lyrics, and get the flow right. You need to figure out which words will make up your chorus and which will form the verse. Storytelling – verse. Statements or intentions – chorus.

Hmmm….do the lyrics need to rhyme somewhat?
Next to these two, Kurt Cobain sounded like a genius :
~come and join the cheeky club~
~this is what you want~
~come and sing the cheeky song~
~our cheeky cheeky song~
~don’t ask why, don’t be shy~
~touch my bum, this is life~~~
Now that is nonsense!
Giddy Tiger Yes, it has to have some backbone of rhyme, else it’ll sound awkward. You can pull off non-rhyme verses but only occasionally I think.
Wombat Hahahahaha! You’re favorite band of all time ain’t it? Come on, admit it, admit it! LOL.
The Wombat digs Nirvana? Over my dead furry body marn.
Wombat No Sir Wombat, I was talking about the Cheeky Girls. Hahahahahaha!
