How I Got My Driver’s License
After getting my motorcycle license in 1994, I sat for my driving test in 1995. Back then it was conducted at PJ New Town. I was there around 8am and waited for my turn. I did the driving part first, to which I failed the first time because I went above the fixed speed limit of 50km/h.
Then, I waited for the parking test. Around 4:30pm, the JPJ instructor shouts, “Ada siapa lagi belum buat ujian parking?”. The bastards. I got into an Iswara and pass the test with ease. I finished the test and I saw my JPJ instructor leaving (to balik kampung to tend to his padi plantation I think). I ran over to the bugger, got him to sign and re-sat my driving test the following week.
I had a good laugh during the whole time there watching people trying to balance the car on the slope. I almost thought they were auditioning as stunt drivers. Screeching wheels (lots of smoke) and the car speeds up, or even better, really revved up engine and the car reverses down the slope. LOL.
I think it’s hard getting one nowdays without bribing the authorities..
I got mine after a major accident with a motorcycle. Hahah…
I passed mine without bribing, but I also took the driving test twice. Don’t laugh… I failed the first time because I didn’t wear my seat belt
i passed the 1st time gone for the test. i even gone to the JPJ driving my company’s van. I have been driving around KK for 2 yrs without licence. Ssshhh.
My only “X” is the “check your wiper before you start the engine”. Apa kebende orang check wiper before jalan. It was not even raining that time. Stupe rule.
hehe.. shy to talk about my driving test. I took it 3 times!. .Yes.. 3 FREAKIN’ TIMES!
First.. they said I didn’t brake at the junction. But, I was as good as stationary already at that time. They said even if it was so, I still need to ‘show’ that my foot was on the pedal. so… X
Second time… this will make everybody laugh. Aku langgar Teksi… enuf said. X
But Daniel, I took the test in 1994 (also @ PJ New Town)..and how come you got an Iswara?? and I got this miserable super old matchbox car with almost flat tyres and super ‘tight’ pedals…!?
I had to sit for mine twice. A case of over confidence.
For my 1st test I passed everthing until I reached the parking stage. I reversed in and parked my car very fast. Thought it was too fast so I came out again and tried to park it slower and ended up langgar tiang. Wanted to bang my head on the wall. Unbelievable but true.
So I had to redo the test again the following week.
Passed *ahem* the *ahem* FIRST *ahem* time *ahem* WITHOUT *ahem* kopi duit *ahem*

now days, kids drive so dangerously that they think they invisible as the initial-D character. never do they know that is a comic not bound with the physic rules and theory.
for the failed test, i have to give blame to the instructor. sometimes they don’t give us good time on the hill test and parking test. the rest, they just ask you to be their part time driver driving around. that all! thats why most of the people failed their hill test.
I got mine in 1970. Passed everything without a sweat. No kopi mentioned except I was asked for a donation to the driving instructors’ association. But one week later the whole bunch of testers got arrested by the ACA. Don’t look at me…I’m innocent. LOL
i remember a car flying over the slope like a San Fransico speed chase scene… the car slamped the ground so hard the boot swinged open on its own.

Wannabe Economist Really? I didn’t bribe and got my license. I think it’s the other way round, it’s hard to pass because of lack of common sense these days hence bribing seems to be an option for many buffoons.

papajoneh Well, I suppose it’s a common sense test though it may not be sensical at that time. It’s just to get someone into that habit, but I don’t think anyone checks wiper before driving off.

My test was in 1995, and I had brand new spanking Iswaras…

I took my license rather late. I think I was in my early 20s. But I passed every thing in one go.

I failed my first test. I blamed the instructor as he never showed me the right road and I only learned my parking at an empty field. Anyway, going to re-test tomorrow.

well, wat can i say? i’m takin my drivin test 2moro. a lil bit scare n nervous, jus tinkin bout the bads. wat should i do if i flunk it? well, there’s possibilities rite? n to my proudest, i’m drivin to driving field myself without licence to get a licence. haha~ my drivin sifu made jokes of it. secretly, (well, since i’ve tel u all ere so it’s not secret ed~) i’ve been drivin for the past 2 months without license. XD but drivin like dat make me more confidence n steady to handle road’s penganas lor. as u noe, kl’s drivers r all lembu. dats y L license came from. drive Lembu sikit! dats wat i heard. XD n u got a P after L. P=penganas~ LOL
i myself quit soft, i mean i din xpect myself to drive like others so rough but now dat i’m drivin, i’ve learnt dat if u dun b rough, u wun gotta cross the road~
