Personal Relationships @ Work – Doomed for Failure

If you think it will work then you’re a nescient buffoon. It is substantiated than if you fall head over heels with someone in the office and would like to have that relationship, it almost always leads to failure.
Unless, one of you quits the company. It’s as simple as that! Unless you’re married before you both joined the company and it is a humongous company of over 500 people and your job scopes are very distinct like janitor & surgeon, don’t event bother because it is a recipe for disaster!

I experienced that with my previous company, where the wife was in senior management, and she introduced her clueless husband who she controls on a leash to manage an area which he ZERO knowledge, but still enjoy a high pay nonetheless. The husband was not respected at all because he wasn’t a nice guy – like to bitch a lot – flexing his so-called power.
You’re only intensifying your grief and confusing yourself. You may think that you are covert enough to conceal your relationship. It just doesn’t work!
If the romance go south, one of you will even be vengeful leading to process of splitting the colleagues up between you two. One of you must resign if you treasure the relationship.

here at my school oso got husband n wife and they r just fine..
It’s hard to say really. Some couples work fine together, some don’t. Well, can test it out and if it doesn’t work, both have to acknowledge it and one has to quit if they treasure their relationship.
my first real relationship was with a colleague many years back. it’s pretty tough and he eventually quit to work somewhere else. we broke up a few years ago but the lesson here is correct – relationships at workplace will result in one, or both, of you leaving the company.

Nadia – It depends, but the odds of it failing is much much higher. Besides, teachers, you don’t get in each other’s face as opposed to colleagues in the same office.

Couldn’t agree more… But on the other hand (generally speaking) workplaces treated like a second home i.e hotel can drive 2 married co-workers to have extra marital affairs. I saw many of these happened to my former superiors back in my hotel employment days. what a shame…
