Repairing a Relationship

Major screwup. Huge bust up. What now?

Well, not every mistake requires an apology. You need to stand your ground on some issues. But, ultimately, saying “I’m sorry” may simply come down to how important the relationship is.

Why is she hurt? You need to study your wrongdoings from different angles, put yourself in her shoes. It might give you an insight of why she is hurt. Did you let her down?

Apologies are crucial. It has to be genuine. You can’t fake an apology, unless if you’re a member of the opposition party PAS. Apologize on the mistake, and tell her that you understand how and why it affected her and tell her how much this relationship means to you. But, NEVER EVER say, “I promise I’ll never do it again”. Remember, your human, not God.

What next? Well, damage control and about efforts to clean up your mess. Restore her faith in you. Don’t just take her out for dinner, or ask her how can you make it up to her. It’ll only prove that you’re a blur numskull. Over time, her faith in you will be restored. A relationship is not a walk in the park, happiness needs ground work and maintenance.

Look back on this, and learn from it. It’ll help you minimize the recurrence of the same mistake in the future.
