Footloose (1984)
Jon Bon Jovi turned down the lead role in order to concentrate on his music. In came Kevin Bacon, and the rest was history. A so-so movie about a teenager trying to channel rock music into a community filled with old folks who are against that type of music.
The best part about this movie was its kickass soundtrack. Kenny Loggins’ Footloose, Deniece Williams’ Let’s Hear It for the Boy, John Mellencamp’s Hurt So Good, Foreigner’s Waiting for a Girl Like You, Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out for a Hero and Mike Reno (Loverboy) and Ann Wilson (Heart)’s duet – Almost Paradise. Brilliant. If you don’t own this CD, I suggest you BUY it.
The movie was good and the soundtrack was superb…. but i thought kevin couldnt dance for peanuts,,,… but then after this movie everybody wanted to dance like him… thank god breakdancing became a big crazy …….

Did Jon Bon Jovi really turn down the lead for this movie??? Although I am a HUGE Bon Jovi fan, I somehow don’t think the movie would have been as good with him as with Kevin Bacon. You are definitely right about the soundtrack – it’s awesome!

minou11 It would’ve been weird seeing Jon in that lead, cause I’ve seen him live in concert, and he has also admitted to that during his concerts, that he can’t dance.

well, i liked soundtrack of Reality Bites. it was a movie directed by Ben Stiller…
2 things… 1.. i didnt know bon jovi turned down that part.. 2.. i didnt know those “classic” 80s songs were from that movie..
