Our Lives Before the Computer
I clearly remembered before computers came to our shores. I bought my first computer in 1995, a 486DX, costing over RM4000. The computer was a nice addition to my life. I didn’t need it. 10 years later, without computer, I would “die”. No, it’s not blogging nor social networks that I’m worried about, it’s SONGS.
Here’s a take our the definition of words before computers came into our lives.

My first PC was this speedy 386 machine, it was top of the line at that time anyway … LOL! It cost me an arm and a leg or two. And once I discovered the internet, life as I knew it disappeared. Now I’d gone stark raving crazy without my PC!

LOL! 3/4 of the words I use in my daily conversations these days have something to do with computers. And I doubt I’ll be able to survive 2 days without going online at least once!

long time ago, only rich or loaded people can buy computer… not same like today. My first time i use pc just to chat using irc or bitchx chat client on unix..
i started using computer when i was 11 years old and that was 17 years ago..hahahaa!! but i’m not depending much on it like i am now..
Now, if no computer..mati already!! haha
Wah, I’d die if there’s no computer… I’ll be bored to death in my super boring life in uni…
Couldn’t imagine one day when my laptop dies on me… I’ll be shaking legs for the whole day!
Cheers!

Nick Phillips – Yeah, I remember my first PC, was apparently the fastest PC owned among my friends, with a 4X CD reader. LOL. I remember buying my first CD Burner – Yamaha 8X for RM900.
sriyany – Yeah, we’re all hooked on computers these days.
xin – Imagine just under 15 years ago, a web WAS a spider’s home! LOL
Aj – Not really. I remember I needed to have a computer because I studied NCC in 1995, remember buying mine for RM4200 – IPC. I remember seeing Yahoo in 1994.
kaDusMama – Definitely, it’s now an integral part of our lives. Social boundaries are now removed.
desmond-t – True, can you imagine when I was in my early teens, there was no such thing as computer, it was more of a luxury. I first saw a computer in 1991, my cousin used to play pacman on it.
I remember my first pc gave me lots of problem. Even the supplier was not sure what to do with it. So it was like a junk at home. Now people are more expert with computer.

well, my first computer was a 286….bought in 1989. It don’t even have a hd but a ‘high density’ 1.2M floppy drive. Then, I got my 486DX in 1995 and was having fun with it especially the multimedia stuffs like cdrom. Was crazy with cd games then. After that, I DIY quite no. of PCs from pentium 3 to athlon and till now, a pentium 4. Well, IT has really come a long way!!!

I still remember learning about BASIC programming long time ago before there were even things like Windows. Back then, I don’t even know what a virus is except the virus that causes diseases. Things have changed so much! Nowadays, no computer equals no life!

“it’s not blogging nor social networks that I’m worried about, it’s SONGS.”
In addition to songs, I’d say $$$…
molly – Yeah, mine too, each time it breaks down, all sorts of drama. Computers were unstable before, and not many “expert” in the field.
chrisau – My 486DX came with Microsoft Encarta.
foongpc – Wow, I never learned BASIC, the oldest I learned was COBOL and FOXPRO.
ben – Not for me, money is optional. Music is compulsory.
