He’s on Medical Leave Not Medical Certificate!
Why do we Asians like to say that? “He’s on MC today”, “He will not be coming in because he’s taken MC today”. WTF. This is the downside of Manglish, Malaysian English.
MC is the abbreviation for Medical Certificate, not Master of Ceremony nor My Cock. Imagine that, “She’s on My Cock today”. The RIGHT saying would be “He’s on Medical Leave today” – ML not MC.
Unfortunately, our love for abbreviation is continuing to diminish our grasp of English. Please, if you’re one of those culprits, try to learn to say “He’s on ML today” if you really need to abbreviate the term, “Medical Leave”. Can?

I used to wonder what MC means during the early days of my working ‘era’. Hehehehe! But in SH, as I remember, they called it Sick Leave. And that term stuck with me, but sometimes terkeluar juga MC.
MC seems to be a term used primarily in these parts of the world. Aussies call it,”Taking a sicky”

but mc is so commonly used, everywhere in msia. if u say ml, people might not understand u. people just use mc with or without knowing what it really means.

i always thought MC stands for Medical Chit. but i do agree, the correct term would be Medical Leave. if you say you’re taking an MC, you’re just taking that one little piece of paper.
