Losing Sleep?

It comes with age – the older you get, the less sleep you enjoy. Gone are the nights where I can embark on a 14-hour sleeping marathon. My record was some 22 hours, but that was because I was trying to recover from my 21st birthday bash, having been drunk out of my mind.

Lately though, I also noticed that I’m easily awaken. Of the the main elements that prevents me from sleeping is worrying about not getting enough sleep. A catch 22 of sorts. I also realized that forcing yourself to hit the hay doesn’t work either. Only head to bed if you’re feeling sleepy, otherwise, don’t bother. Avoid checking the time at night, it’ll make you feel more stressed to know that the clock is ticking.

If your eyes are closed, think about getaways or the beach. Forget about counting sheeps or bats, otherwise, like it or not, soon enough Elmo will appear.

A hot shower always helps. Sex helps too. But, remember not to oversleep, it’ll have the same effect of not having enough sleep. Treat your bedroom as a bedroom and nothing else. It’s not a dining room nor a living room – it’s only for sleeping and bonking. If you do anything other than that, you’re subconsciously feeding your brain ideas.

I personally DO NOT believe in naps. Afternoon naps only results in one thing, it makes you a lazy and groggy person. I wake up feeling blurred and easily irritated. So, avoid naps, else it’ll disrupt your sleeping patterns.
