Sing Song Saturday (Soul Asylum, Bruce Springsteen, Roxette, Steve Winwood, Foo Fighters & Raghav)

Soul Asylum – Misery (1995)
What a song! It’s one of the songs that I will always play with my guitar. I hated the overrated, “Runaway Train”, a nasally boring turdy number. This one though, is way better and in fact, is Soul Asylum’s best song to date. Frustrated Incorporated.

Soul Asylum

Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark (1984)
Before Courtney Cox became famous, she appeared in the music video. Any of you remember “Misfits of Science”, a better version that the stupidest TV Series in history, “Heroes”? She had a part in there too. Frustrations and irked mood set the pace for the song.

Roxette – Joyride (1991)
Those days, Roxette could do not wrong. From their first hit, “Listen to Your Heart”, they churned hit after hit. I wasn’t too joyed by this track, but I grew up with it, like it or not. Now, listening to it again, it’s still a so-so track, but a nice walk in time.

Steve Winwood – Higher Love (1986)
It garnered the Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards. Unfortunately, this dude is a one hit wonder. The female vocal on the track is none other than Chaka Khan.

Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters – Walking After You (1997)
X-Files, another crappy series, borrowed this tune as its movie soundtrack. I didn’t bother watching the movie, because one can only expect bullshit from the X-Files. The only good thing that came out of this movie, was this song. Wait a minute, this song even appeared in their album before the X-Files. Nothing good came out of the movie then.

Raghav – Cant Get Enough (2004)
I first heard this track while I was on holiday in Bangalore that year. And Indian singer who lived overseas, heavily features his Indian roots while mixing it with R&B. Not too tatty.
